Speed Performance

ZoogVPN reached 420 Mbps download and 310 Mbps upload on our 1 Gbps test line in London. Latency to the nearest server measured 11ms – excellent for gaming and real-time applications. We test each provider across four server locations at both peak (6–9 PM local) and off-peak (2–4 AM) hours and average the results.

We ran all tests over WireGuard – ZoogVPN's recommended protocol on Windows. Switching to OpenVPN reduced download speeds by roughly 15 percent (to ~355 Mbps on the UK server) but kept latency stable. IKEv2 sat between the two in throughput while delivering the lowest latency overhead. Security

We tested the kill switch by disconnecting the network adapter mid-session; traffic ceased immediately with no data leaking to our ISP DNS. DNS protection is active by default with no opt-in required. We verified using ipleak.net – all DNS queries resolved through the VPN's own resolver with no ISP leakage. Windows App Experience

The ZoogVPN Windows app installed cleanly on both Windows 10 (21H2) and Windows 11 (23H2) in our test environment – no prompts for Visual C++ redistributables or .NET prerequisites. The interface is modern and uncluttered: a map view for server selection or a simple country list, a prominent connect button, and a status indicator that changes from red to green. Split tunneling allows specifying individual applications (for example, only routing a torrent client through the VPN while keeping browsers on the direct connection). The always-on kill switch is enabled by default – unusual and commendable, since many providers default it to off. Auto-connect on untrusted Wi-Fi networks triggers correctly; we tested on three different public hotspots.
