Speed Performance

Turbo VPN reached 280 Mbps download and 190 Mbps upload on our 1 Gbps test line in London. Latency to the nearest server measured 35ms — solid for everyday use. We test each provider across four server locations at both peak (6–9 PM local) and off-peak (2–4 AM) hours and average the results.

Turbo VPN delivered the second-slowest speeds in our benchmark. While 281 Mbps is sufficient for HD video, it falls well short of the 400–900 Mbps achievable with top providers on identical hardware. The free-tier speed limit (typically 20–50 Mbps) makes the free version unsuitable for anything beyond basic web browsing.

Streaming Performance

Turbo VPN offers basic streaming access on the paid tier; the free tier is too slow for HD video. Netflix worked on some regional servers but was inconsistent overall. BBC iPlayer and Disney+ were blocked in the majority of our test sessions. Turbo VPN does not maintain dedicated streaming servers and is not recommended as a primary streaming VPN.

Security

Turbo VPN supports OpenVPN and IKEv2 with AES-256 encryption. However, the privacy policy's language is vague regarding what metadata is retained and for how long. Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) governs data handling, but Singapore maintains intelligence-sharing arrangements with several Western agencies and lacks the strong VPN-specific privacy protections found in Switzerland or Panama. The privacy policy states a no-logs posture but includes vague carve-outs around 'aggregate data' that create uncertainty. No independent audit has been published. For users with basic privacy needs (public Wi-Fi protection, casual geo-unblocking), this may be acceptable. For users with meaningful threat models, the policy ambiguity and unaudited status should be disqualifying.

Windows App Experience

Turbo VPN's Windows app is clearly derived from its mobile applications — the layout prioritises simplicity at the expense of customisation. There is a single connect button with a flag icon showing the selected country; protocol and cipher settings are not exposed in the UI. The kill switch is present but requires enabling in settings. Split tunneling is absent. The app is functional but provides fewer Windows-specific features than any other client in our ranking.

Additional platforms include macOS, iOS, Android, Linux, and select router firmware. The Windows client is the primary focus of this review, tested on both Windows 10 22H2 and Windows 11 23H2.

Limitations

No VPN is perfect. Here are the specific weaknesses we identified during our 2026 testing period:

• No independent security audit — the privacy policy's vague language around data collection makes it impossible to externally verify what is and isn't logged.
• Slowest download speeds in our 13-VPN benchmark; even on the nearest UK server, throughput was 281 Mbps compared to 418+ Mbps from leading providers.
